I have enjoyed living in the west in Oregon & Utah and I had enjoyed living in Western North Carolina.. I traveled to the Blue Ridge mountains after earning a Bachelors degree from the University of Utah in 2003 (Parks, Recreation, & Tourism. Emphasis in Experiential Education) and an associates degree from Dixie College in Southern UT.
With over 12 years of combined experience working with youth in Outdoor Wilderness Treatment programs and with youth & adults in Experiential Education, I have developed an appreciation for the "aha" moments when people of all ages gain deeper insight into their mind, body, and spirit. To Life of Energy Retreats I bring you my education, experience and desire to live better, live healthier, & live more purposefully.
I love spending time with my husband and two children and I strive to care for them with the best health and wellness methods available. More recently, my path has followed my son who has ADHD. I continue to learn and research on his behalf since I believe there are more options out there for him to heal and/or decrease his symptoms. I feel something is lacking when my child's regular doctors are unable to really give more options other than medications, which usually do not have good side effects. I believe in being open and aware of more healthy choices. I believe in having a doctor who has a more wholistic approach. I worry about the health statistics in our western society with obesity, heart disease, depression, etc. And I worry about the food supply and toxins/ chemicals in our environment. How can I protect or help my family?!? The rise of many environmental factors and toxins, and even trauma effects many of us, I have always believed in basic whole foods, and physical activity and clean living. I credit my mother for inspiring my life-long commitment to health and nutrition. It was in her kitchen that I learned about healthy foods, and the joy & benefits of growing a garden. I am grateful to both my parents for creating opportunities to live in beautiful Southern Oregon and Southern Utah where experiencing different cultures and climates inspired my appetite for greater experiences, traveling, and learning.
I am committed to continually growing and learning, because I still struggle & have my challenges, also, But with the information I have learned, I want sharing as much knowledge as possible with other parents and families. I believe in combining all the science & health research and alternative options together to have a healthy life & experience. I feel deeply grateful and honored by those who choose to experience the journey with me and share our paths.
